Communication is KEY: We want this to be a great experience for your child. Our focus is to help each child shine; learn team building, responsibility, respect, public speaking and confidence. Most of all we want everyone to have fun!
Announcements/Flyers: Announcements are posted to the St. James web site (www.stjamesregionaldramaclub.weebly.com). Please check the web site often. We do respond to emails. If you have questions, please email us.
Director: Suzi Waldie – [email protected]
Assistant: Terry Barker – [email protected]
Rehearsals and Attendance: Joining the Theater Group is similar to joining a dance group, basketball team, cheerleading team, etc. It is a commitment that you are choosing to make. Attendance at rehearsals and performances is mandatory, especially for cast leads. We will try to work with you but we can not promise that we will be able to adjust the rehearsal schedule to accommodate everyone. We ask that you write ALL conflicts on the registration form, so we can put together the rehearsal schedule. If a cast member has 2 unexcused absences they may be dismissed from the performance. Basically it comes down to this: We will take dependability into casting parts and attendance will be monitored.
Attendance at school is a PRIORITY. Children should not miss school due to rehearsals. If your child misses school due to illness, they are NOT to show up for rehearsal. Email us ASAP that they are sick.
There will be a sign-in and sign-out sheet at every rehearsal. Please make sure that you sign your child in and out. For safety reasons, children should NOT be sent in by themselves or dropped off at the door. Also, announcements and flyers are sometimes left on the sign in table.
If rehearsals become too noisy from non-cast members we will close the rehearsal and ask non-chaperones to wait outside.
Behavior: All discipline issues will be addressed by the Director and our school principal, Mrs. Loomis. Again please communicate with us if you see something inappropriate or if your child has a question or concern. Any discipline issues may result in the cast member being dismissed from the performance.
Food: Children should bring a drink (preferably water) and a small, non-messy snack for rehearsal. We do not have a scheduled break time so do not plan to “drop something off.” Children will be responsible for cleaning up after themselves. Please put your child’s name on any items that they bring.
Costumes: We always try to provide as many costumes as possible to our cast. However there are times when we will ask you to provide some items that are needed for the costumes. We will let you know as soon as possible what your child needs.
Art Contest: We will be having the Art Contest again this year in January. (Program cover, Poster, t-shirt).
Program Book/Patron Ads: We will be collecting patrons and ads for the program book. We ask that each cast member try to get at least two ads or patrons.
Chaperones: Every parent is asked to chaperone a minimum of two (2) rehearsals. In order to do this you MUST have the required “Safe Environment Clearances.” If you do not have the clearances, you must find a replacement chaperone to take your turn. It is important that the Chaperones know their role which is to monitor the children during the rehearsals. This means: keeping children quiet while the director is speaking or working with other children and assisting the director. Chaperoning does NOT include sitting in the back of the rehearsal space talking with other parents, watching non-cast member children, talking on phones, etc.
We will be using Sign-up Genius for signing up chaperones for all rehearsals. There will be a list of dates that you can sign up to chaperone.
Committees: Adults are welcome to help out by signing up for a committee, costuming, props, set construction, etc. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR CLEARANCES IN ORDER TO HELP WITH THE SHOW. More information on the Committees will be available soon.
Performance Dates: Friday, April 12st at 7pm; Saturday, April 13th at 2pm & 7pm, and Sunday, April 14th at 2pm
Performance Volunteers: Wrist bands will be distributed to those working the performances. No one will be permitted back stage or in the classrooms with the children unless you are wearing the color coded wrist band. REMINDER – you must have your clearances.
Tech Weekend: Tech Weekend is when we run through the show with microphones, lights, sound, props. Tech weekend is usually held the weekend before show weekend. The Saturday rehearsal will be a longer rehearsal. If needed, we will also have tech rehearsal on Sunday of that weekend. Exact dates and times will be announced at a later date.
Cast Party: Sunday, April 14th - The cast party is a lot of fun and a great way to celebrate the performance. Tickets will be required this year. Doors open at 6PM. To allow us to break down the stage and prepare for the dinner, we ask you not to arrive prior to this time as doors will be locked until this time. We will be using a catering company this year, so everyone must pay to attend the party. More information will be available in March.
Fees: $25/child, max of $50 per family (nonrefundable). Checks can be made out to SJRCS. The fee will help cover the cost of producing the play, cast props, a t-shirt for all cast members, and cast member attendance at the cast party. The registration fee must be paid by December 18th . Rehearsal materials will not be distributed to children who have not paid the registration fee. If your child drops out or is dismissed due to lack of attendance or behavior issues the registration fee will not be refunded and your child will not be eligible to receive a free t-shirt or attend the cast party.
